Nutritional Therapy

At The Prospect Eye Clinic, we strongly endorse the prevention rather than cure approach when it comes to eye health. Recent scientific studies stress the importance of good nutrition, a healthy diet and antioxidant therapy in preventing blindness from macular degeneration or glaucoma1. There are also strong links between Alzheimer's disease and poor nutrition.

How can nutritional therapy help me?

Nutritional therapy is designed to restore optimal health by addressing specific dietary and lifestyle needs of the individual. It employs a personalised, holistic approach to address specific nutritional deficiencies / increased requirements through dietary changes and nutritional supplementation.

Your consultation

A consultation with Dr Ellwood will provide you with a realistic, practical dietary and lifestyle plan which aims to optimise your overall health, and to specifically address your eye condition. This will be based on the latest scientific research findings.

Prior to your appointment you will be asked to complete a health and well being questionnaire and a 3-day lifestyle and food diary. This will form the basis of the discussion with Dr Ellwood, and will help to establish your goals and nutritional needs.

At the initial consultation, an individually tailored programme will be agreed with you, and you will be given a specific, detailed dietary, lifestyle and supplement plan. Your success against agreed goals will be reviewed at the follow-up consultation, where progress will be monitored, and modifications made as necessary.
