Eye clinic acquisition and investment offers patients enhanced service

The Prospect Eye Clinic, Altrincham, has been acquired by Optegra, the leading eye care hospital group, which has a state-of–the-art hospital at Didsbury Point, Manchester.

Home to one of the UK’s leading eye specialists, Mr Brendan Moriarty, The Prospect Eye Clinic treats a range of conditions from Age-related Macular Degeneration, Glaucoma, Cataract and eye floaters. Mr Moriarty also provides Clarivu™ - the clear alternative to laser eye surgery for the over 50’s which can correct both long and short-sightedness and prevents or eliminates cataracts in one painless, permanent lens replacement procedure. Mr Moriarty has had Clarivu himself, so knows through first-hand experience the benefits of the new lens which gives clear sight and the additional focusing power previously provided by glasses or contact lenses.

The acquisition by Optegra will allow for further investment into The Prospect Eye Clinic, which will still be headed up by Mr Moriarty.

However, surgical procedures will now be carried out at Optegra’s newly built, fully equipped specialist eye hospital at Didsbury Point. So my patients really are getting the best of both worlds.”

Optegra will provide further investment into new technology for The Prospect Eye Clinic, which will enable the clinic to provide an even better service for patients.

New facilities, including SLT and Femtosecond lasers, OCT (ocular coherence tomography), ocular photography and ultrasound facilities will help The Prospect Eye Clinic deliver enhanced management of glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataract, floaters and surgery to become spectacle independent.

Optegra operates five eye hospitals: Optegra Surrey Eye Hospital (Guildford), Optegra Birmingham Eye Hospital (Aston), Optegra Yorkshire Eye Hospital (Apperley Bridge and Laser Eye Centre in Leeds City Centre); Optegra Solent Eye Hospital (Whiteley) and Optegra Manchester Eye Hospital, (Didsbury).
